Nothing says ‘welcome to the new year’ like a random windstorm, amiright?
Me: uncaffeinated and getting really frustrated that the kids don’t understand what a power outage means. (“Well, you should just fix the light? Turn the fridge ON, mom… the milk is gonna go to waste. Why is it so cold in here? Mom you should turn the heat on.”)
Also me: *walks into the bathroom and plugs in my straightener so I can smooth down my bed head before we leave the house for Starbucks (and WiFi).*
Thank God, the power was only out for a few hours. I know it seems obvious, but we totally take for granted how blessed we are by electricity. My kids were seriously beside themselves that they could do NOTHING without electricity. We went to Starbucks and got treats/caffeine, and then we went to Grammy & Opa’s house and hung out there for a few hours to stay warm. Abbie had made a delicious chili, and it was just what we needed to get through what was supposed to be a relaxing Sunday.
